The winning recipients have been announced for the 2026 Top Contractors by Pavement Maintenance & Reconstruction, and Sunland Asphalt & Construction was named as the Top Contractor in four separate categories for their work in paving, pavement repair, sealcoating and striping.
To earn a spot on the 2026 Top Contractor list, Sunland Asphalt met stringent criteria set by the publication’s editorial team. For example, applicants were required to submit verified 2025 sales data from a third-party source and provide a detailed breakdown of their services, including work in paving, sealcoating, striping, and pavement repair—categories in which top contractors are selected.
“Being named a Top Contractor in paving, pavement repair, sealcoating and striping is a tremendous honor and reflects the dedication and hard work of our teams across the Southwest,” said Mike Thompson, CEO of Sunland Asphalt & Construction. “The recognition truly validates the trust our clients place in us every day and the dedication of our employees across the Southwest along with their commitment to quality, safety, customer service and continuous improvement.”
Founded in 1979 as an independent asphalt maintenance company, Sunland Asphalt & Construction has grown into a $500 million full-service general contractor with offices in Arizona, Colorado, Georgia and Nevada, while serving clients nationwide. Over the past four decades, the company has expanded its capabilities far beyond asphalt maintenance to offer a comprehensive range of construction services, including paving, reconstruction, grading, underground utilities, concrete, striping and infrastructure improvements. Sunland’s continued growth has been driven by its commitment to quality, safety, innovation and customer service.
“The Top Contractor award continues to play a significant role in listing, not only the Top 50 contractors in their given field, but in highlighting those who are still hustling to get their company’s name out there in front of their customers and their communities. They work hard at every available opportunity to showcase the men and women who make it all possible, and we take pride in getting to share this annual recognition with our audience,” said Brandon Noel, Editor-in-Chief, Asphalt Contractor and Pavement Maintenance & Reconstruction.
